Shih Tzu Puppies & Children
The Relationship Between
children and Shih TzuS
Puppies can be a very special, happy and loving one, because these puppies are
very affectionate and devoted to their little owners.
However, some children play very rough and are
even cruel to animals. This could cause your Shih Tzu Puppy to become very
fearful so, always supervise small children when they are around your Shih Tzu
Puppy (especially with children under the age of 10). No rough play is ever
allowed. This is a safety concern because these pups have fragile, developing
bones. They could end up with a displaced hip or even a fractured
bone.
Have your child approach your Shih Tzu Puppy
quietly and calmly. Tell your child to speak in a soft, fun voice to the pup
and not to shout. Have your child pet the puppy often on its back and under the
chin area. Do not allow your child to grab or tightly hug the puppy. Keep your
child’s face away from the puppy’s just in case they may play bite. Be careful
not to step on or trip over the puppy. Never tease your Shih Tzu
Puppy!
I believe that children should play with your
new Shih Tzu Puppy often, but should only be done under constant
supervision.
Your Shih Tzu Puppy can teach your children
all of the joys of a canine friendship. Children must learn to have fun with
your puppy but to be gently and very careful, doing this they will eventually
become life-long friends!
